St. Ambrose Parish is a vibrant faith-filled people, dedicated to worshiping God, to proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ, to enabling members for ministry, and to living together in the context of local community. We strive to reject sin and to live according to the values of the kingdom of God, emphasizing family life. We are sent to bring about the vision among our families and neighbors in our society, as part of the Diocese of San Angelo and the Roman Catholic Church.

    Are you someone or do you know someone who …
     Has expressed interest in becoming Catholic?
     Wants to learn more about the Catholic Church?
     Was baptized Catholic as a child, but has not celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist?
    We offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teaching and experience of the Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. Your are warmly invited to participate in the process with your questions your insights and your faith story in a warm accepting setting. Sessions will begin Wednesday, August 19.   • BBQ Chickens for Pregnancy Help Center
    KCs will be accepting orders for chickens ($8), beans ($2) and sauce ($2) after all Masses each weekend to benefit the Pregnancy Help Center. Orders may be picked up on Saturday, Aug. 1st between 9 am and 1 pm or Sunday, Aug. 2nd between 10 am and 12 Noon. You may also place an order by calling Michael Block @ 656-0076.

  • Youth Events
    July 19: Training after the 9 am Mass for Eucharistic Ministers that are High School out-going seniors and college-age kids. Call me @ 212-7607 if you feel a call to this ministry.

    July 19 (Sunday) at 6:00 pm: LET’S PLAY BALL!!!! Youth against adults. Yes, parents, that means YOU! This is a fundraiser for the youth groups. We will have a $2 admittance charge and will have a concession stand with hot
    dogs/hamburgers — cost will be $5. I need parents who would like to coach, umpire, cook, or play. Please volunteer to help me with this. Release forms will be in the back of Church. All proceeds will benefit the Youth Group to fund activities.

    July 25: Walking for Vocations in Ballinger. If anyone is interested, it begins at the large cross on US Hwy 83 at 8 am and will conclude 3 miles later at St. Mary’s in Ballinger. There will be a light lunch at the hall at 10:30. RSVP by July 15th.

    July 31 through Aug. 2: Men’s Retreat for 10th grade and above at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Odessa — “Discerning the Priesthood.” Seminarians and priests will lead discussions . . . More information will follow . . . If interested, please let Fr. Joe or myself know.

    Looking ahead . . . Be watching for details on “Movie Night.”

  • Upcoming Youth Events
    June 24: Schlitterbahn Trip for High School Students — new date!! If interested in attending, the cost is $25 per person. Permission forms are required. If already turned in to the office they’re still good — no need to redo these forms. Contact me if you have not received one. We will start the day with the Mass intention for a safe trip at 5:30 am prior to leaving at 6:00 am on the charter bus. Don’t’ forget to bring your sunscreen, towel, personal snacks and clothes to wear in the restaurant afterwards.

    June 26: VBS Hot Dog Meal — need kids from 10:00am-1:00 pm. No one has approached me with any indication that they can help with this event. I need to have both Jr. High and High School students assist with the setting up, cooking, serving, and clean–up after the hot dog lunch for the VBS participants and their parents. Let me hear from you guys!
